Burnsville Martial Arts Academy (BMAA) is a martial arts school on Portland Ave in Burnsville, in the south Twin Cities metro, founded in 2021 by co-owners Nakita and Gus Kratzke. The 8,000 sq ft facility has two fully matted training areas, an MMA cage, heavy bags, locker rooms and a student lounge. Adult classes (ages 14+) cover Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi), MMA and Kali/JKD, a Filipino martial arts curriculum of stick and knife work, Panantukan (Filipino boxing) and Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do taught through the Minnesota Kali Group method. The Youth program for ages 7 to 13 blends BJJ, Muay Thai and Kali stick work. Private one-on-one training is also available, and your first class is free. Gus has trained in combat arts for over 25 years: he won the Brutaal welterweight title and retired from MMA at 8-1 with every win by finish, holds a BJJ black belt under Professor Greg Nelson and is a Senior Instructor in Ajarn Surachai Sirisute's Muay Thai system. Nakita, a second-degree Taekwondo black belt, began training at the Minnesota Kali Group in 2008 and is an apprentice instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto. The team competes in Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA, and in September 2026 student Elvis won the B-class lightweight title at the TBA-SA Tournament of Champions. The academy also hosts seminars with visiting instructors.

Gus Kratzke

Co-Owner · Coach

Justin "Gus" Kratzke co-founded the academy in 2021 and has trained in combat arts for over 25 years. He won the Brutaal welterweight title and retired from MMA at 8-1 with every win by finish. Senior Instructor under Ajarn Surachai Sirisute (Muay Thai, training since 2008) and BJJ black belt under Professor Greg Nelson (2023); also a Taekwondo black belt. Previously program director and head coach at The Academy in Eden Prairie (2016-2021).

Nakita Kratzke

Co-Owner · Coach

Nakita co-founded the academy in 2021. A second-degree Taekwondo black belt, she began training at the Minnesota Kali Group in 2008 and is a Level 2 instructor in the MKG Method under Sifu Rick Faye, an apprentice instructor in Jun Fan/JKD and Kali under Guro Dan Inosanto, and a Full Instructor under Grandmaster Surachai Sirisute (Muay Thai). BJJ blue belt under Professor Chris McCune. Before BMAA she directed and head-coached MKG's youth and Muay Thai programs (2019-2021).
