About
About
Lāhui Academy is a martial arts gym at 4570 S Kirkman Rd in Orlando, in the Publix plaza at the corner of Kirkman and Conroy. Lāhui means community, and the gym's motto is "One Team. One Family." It was formerly Combat Sports Academy (CSA) and represents GFTeam Orlando in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes run seven days a week: Gi and No-Gi BJJ every weekday from 6:30am, Judo, Muay Thai, Boxing and Wrestling, a Muay Thai sparring session on Fridays and Competition BJJ on Sunday evenings. The Muay Thai program, Soulfly MT, is led by former WBC champion Ben Lucas. Kids classes cover BJJ and Judo (ages 5-12) plus Kids Muay Thai on Fridays. Classes aren't split by rank: beginners learn the same techniques as everyone else from day one. The coaching team includes double black belt and two-time USA Senior World Team judoka Lakea Vargas, GFTeam black belt Luis Simones, Ecuadorian judo champion Xavier Valencia, former Brazilian national-team judoka Lucca Portella, Jeremiah O'Neil, Rocco Vargas and boxing coach Logan Payne. The facility has wide mat space with padded walls (new mats went in at the end of October 2026), strength and conditioning areas, a pro shop and a members-only café. New students start with a free, no-obligation one-week trial; membership options are discussed after the trial.
