About
Rodriguez Jiu-Jitsu Academy (RJJA) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy on Patricia Avenue in Dunedin, Florida, just north of Clearwater. Established in 2026, it teaches kids, adults and complete beginners, with a focus on fundamentals, self-defense and technique that works under pressure. All belts and affiliations are welcome at the Saturday open mat. Owner and head instructor Joel Rodriguez is a 2nd-degree black belt with more than 14 years of training, with lineage under coral belt Professor Eduardo de Lima and 3rd-degree black belt Professor Kevin Peterson. He has competed at IBJJF Opens, the Pan American Championships and Fight 2 Win super fights, and has coached youth athletes at the Jiu-Jitsu World League and the Pans. Classes run Monday to Thursday evenings (kids ages 4-12, then adult fundamentals and adult live sparring) and Saturday mornings (kids class and open mat).
