About
About
The Cellar Gym is a family-owned martial arts gym in Roseville, Minnesota, serving the Minneapolis–St Paul area since 2002. It started in the basement of a deli and convenience store near the University of Minnesota and has expanded five times; since January 2021 it has been in Rosedale Commons (below Old Navy) with free parking. The 13,500 sq ft facility has four training floors (Muay Thai, BJJ/MMA, youth and a heavy-bag room), a full-size boxing ring and MMA cage, 40+ heavy bags, Zebra mats, a weight and cardio room, locker rooms with showers, a co-ed sauna, a pro shop and a parents' lounge. Adult programs are Fitness Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi) and MMA, from fundamentals to competition classes, plus adaptive Boxing for Parkinson's and personal training. Youth Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA start at age 3. The gym also runs a scholarship program for members facing financial barriers. Owned by Ben and Katie Locken, both Muay Thai Krus under Ajarn Chai; Ben is also a BJJ black belt and Team USA Kickboxing coach, and Katie leads the youth program. New members start with a $39 one-week trial (free gloves or gi), and memberships are month-to-month.
