About
About
Kai Muay Thai is a Muay Thai gym at 70A Serangoon Garden Way in Serangoon Gardens, in the north-east of Singapore, open since 2019. Its studio takes up to 15 people per class and has heavy bags, mats, light weights and kettlebells, and showers (bring your own towel). Hand wraps are sold at the gym and shared gloves are available. Group Muay Thai runs every day and is open to all levels: eight classes each weekday between 7:30am and 9:30pm, a mix of 1-hour and 90-minute sessions, and three on Saturday and Sunday from 10am, after two Kids Muay Thai classes at 8am and 9am. Sessions cover pad work, combinations, partner drills and conditioning. One-to-one personal training is booked in the gaps (weekdays 9:30-11:30am and 2-4pm, weekends 2:30-3:30pm). New members can start with a trial promo of 2 group sessions for S$38, used within 7 days. Classes are booked on the gym's website. Founder Kru Kai has been in Muay Thai since 2007. By the gym's account he won a title belt in Udon Thani, fought for Singapore at Lumpinee Stadium and is a Singapore amateur champion; his style is Muay Khao, built on the clinch and knees. He coaches alongside two Thai head coaches: Petchartchai Chaorai-Oi (Kru Fung), who by the gym's count has close to 300 pro fights, including ONE Championship and the Rajadamnern World Series, and Kwan Sor Ploenchit, a technical Muay Femur stylist from the Sor Ploenchit camp who won IFMA World Championships gold for Thailand in 2017.
