About
About
Xtreme Gracie Jiu Jitsu (XGJJ) is a martial arts academy and fitness center on South Highway 27 in Minneola, Florida, serving the Clermont and Minneola area west of Orlando since 2013. It teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi and no-gi), Bang Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing, MMA and wrestling to adults and kids, and has a full cardio and weight area in what the gym describes as an 8,000 sq ft facility. Co-owner and head professor Nick Recanati is a third-degree BJJ black belt under Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, after more than a decade training under Rodrigo and Royce Gracie. His son Brandon "Sunshine" Recanati, who earned his black belt from him, co-owns the academy. The gym's Instagram bio lists it as Tom DeBlass Jiu Jitsu, and the team attended the 2026 Tom DeBlass Summit as affiliates. The striking program is Bang Muay Thai, the system of Duane "Bang" Ludwig (the banner on the wall reads "Official Affiliate, Clermont/Minneola, FL"), and several coaches hold Bang Muay Thai belts. Adult jiu-jitsu runs Monday to Thursday at 9am and 6:30pm, alternating gi and no-gi; Bang Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing and MMA at 10:15am and 7:45pm; USA wrestling for kids and adults on Friday evenings; and open mats every day, including Sunday at noon. Kids train in the Sunshine Scrappers (ages 4-8) and Reca Warriors (ages 9-13) classes, plus kids MMA on Saturday mornings and a monthly in-house sparring league. Your first week is free, with no contract or sign-up fees. Private lessons are available, and military and first responders get 15% off jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and the Gold package.
